Tour Overview
Saint Anthony and Saint Paul Monasteries Tour – A Journey into Egypt’s Christian Heritage
We will pick you up from your hotel for a spiritual and cultural journey to two of Egypt’s most significant Christian landmarks: the
Monastery of Saint Anthony and the
Monastery of Saint Paul, located in the Eastern Desert near the Red Sea Mountains.
Your tour begins with a visit to the
Monastery of Saint Anthony, the
oldest Christian monastery in Egypt, founded in the 4th century AD. Nestled at the foot of Al-Qalzam Mountain, this ancient monastery is renowned for its
towering walls, historic churches, beautiful manuscripts, and a deep sense of spiritual serenity that has endured for over 1,600 years.
We then continue to the
Monastery of Saint Paul, also established in the 4th century and often referred to as the
“Monastery of the Tigers” due to its remote and rugged desert location. This peaceful monastery is carved into the mountains and offers a unique look into early monastic life and the legacy of Saint Paul the Hermit. After this enriching experience, we will drive you back to your hotel.
