The trip to Luxor with the Valley of the Kings from Hurghada includes the Karnak Temple, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, as well as the Valley of the Kings, an ancient necropolis. In the Valley of the Kings, you will enter three tombs selected by your guide. These are usually the tombs of Ramesses the third, Ramesses the fourth, and Ramesses the ninth.
What exactly is this “Valley of the Kings”? This is the place where the pharaohs (and their families) were buried. An ancient cemetery with tombs carved into the rock. It is worth remembering that to the ancient Egyptians’ religious beliefs, life after death was highly important. Their tombs are usually true works of art. A walk through the corridors that are filled with paintings and rooms that once housed the mummies of pharaohs that once ruled this land makes for an unforgettable experience.
Most of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings were looted before archaeologists reached them. Which is why Howard Carter’s discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922 caused a huge stir. Despite its late discovery, this tomb was full of treasures. There were golden beds, a throne, chests and the famous golden mask of Tutankhamun weighing around 10 kilograms. Today, the mask is in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and can be admired during a trip to Cairo.
